**Department/Unit Summary**
The **Emergency Department** at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital embodies a culture of teamwork and effective communication, essential for providing specialized care to critically ill patients. The ER has 22 beds, 7 bay fast track unit operates within a trauma III hospital setting, ensuring patients receive optimal medical attention and support. The Emergency Department has been recognized company wide as a consistent top performer. The ED staff works in a team environment. The ER welcomes many area college and physician resident students in the department.

**Qualifications and requirements**
Applicants should have a current state RN license or a current multistate compact license and possess an associate or bachelor's degree from an accredited nursing school.
**Additional requirements include:**
* Current American Heart Association BLS Certification (or) obtained within 90 days after hire date.
* Current American Heart Association ACLS Certification (or) obtained within 6 months after hire date.
* Current American Heart Association PALS Certification (or) obtained within 6 months after hire date.
* NIHSS Certification obtained within 90 days after hire date.
* Successfully pass an arrhythmia exam within 90 days after hire date.
* Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
* Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
* Language Skills: Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writin
