πŸ“ Description: **General Purpose:** The RN House Supervisor is responsible for providing leadership, positive role modeling and critical thinking skills. The nurse Manager provides direct patient care as needed. The House Supervisor acts as liaison between all areas: Emergency Department, Acute Care, Swing Bed and Extended Care Services by effectively communicating and problem solving. The House Supervisor provides leadership and positive role modeling to facilitate staff development and teamwork along with taking on administrative work. The House Supervisor is accountable for completion of all essential shift duties for his/her position as well as those of the staff he/she supervises. The House Supervisor will be responsible for the schedule of both the ED department and the Extended Care Facility department.

**Essential Duties/Responsibilities:**


1\\. Assist staff in completing work, act as clinical resource, delegate workload/make staff assignments appropriately \\& fairly.


2\\. Ensures that all change of shift reports is being conducted professionally and efficiently.


3\\. Effective Communication with clinic and emergency room medical providers to implement processes for physician’s orders to be correctly followed safely to optimize patient care.


4\\. Anticipate patient care needs, staffing requirements, and assess/evaluate clinical \\& operational information.


5\\. Provide leadership in Emergency Department and emergency situations throughout the facility.


6\\. Be accessible and influence the atmosphere of each unit in a positive manner. Must be knowledgeable of the general condition of all patients within the facility, following up on situations that warrant and provide hands\\-on assessment and care when indicated. Provide advocacy for staff and patients in order to provide a safe and reasonable work environment.
7\\. Assists with orientation for nursing students and/or new personnel to provide training and direction. Serves as preceptor in the orientation of new staff (both permanent and contract staff).


8\\. Problem Solving – The ability to identify problem areas in nursing unit, such as understaffing, absenteeism, wastefulness, and process changes, and takes corrective action in collaboration with the Director of Nursing and CEO.


9\\. Monitors use of supplies and equipment to avoid abuses. Requisitions supply as needed. Utilizes hospital resources efficiently and effectively and makes recommendations for waste reduction and improved performance of the nursing department consistently.


11\\. Assists in preparation of work schedules and assigns duties to nursing staff in unit for efficient use of personnel.


12\\. Enforces NCHD policies and departmental rules to maintain the professionalism and good order of the patient care area. The ability to hold staff accountable for ensuring staff members are fulling their job responsibilities. Ability to create new policies and procedures as warranted.


13\\. Fulfills the role of overseeing the delivery of optimal patient care in the absence of the Director Of Nursing, maintaining communication with him/her regarding issues impacting patient care. This requires maturity, House Supervisors must not take sides in any situations with conflict, rather approach it in a factual manner and work through it in a positive way.


14\\. Maintains all certifications, required continuing education, and required competencies annually, along with attending any mandatory meetings/trainings for NCHD.

**Supervisory Duties:** The House Supervisor will supervise the RNs, LPNs, CNAs and other support staff on his or her shift.

**Education or Formal Training**: Minimum education: Graduate of a Licensed school of Nursing. BSN preferred. Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC required. Experience with Electronic Health Records Preferred

**Experience**: At least two years of experience in similar setting and one year of supervisory experience is preferred.
