Day shift Monday-Friday, on site not a remote position.
Major Responsibilities:
Coordinates bed utilization by overseeing the maintenance of all patient flow, capacity management and bed availability in order to expedite quality patient care through collaboration with Patient Registration, Physicians, Nursing division and other patient care areas
1)Liaison for Patient Command Center. Monitors bed assignments for approved admissions based on patient diagnosis and level of care from Emergency Room, PACU, Direct Admissions, assigned by Patient Command Center.

2)Establishes bed management plans for the hospital and re-evaluates and updates as needed throughout the day.

3)Facilitates daily Capacity Huddle. Responsible for generating action items related to capacity management and helps to determine a plan for high census to promote efficient patient throughput. Responsible for reporting off overall capacity information during daily Patient Command Center Huddle

4)Determines the need for and helps to facilitate Emergency Capacity Bed Huddles in conjunction with MGR of Clinical Operations. Initiates Peak Census alerts according to policy.

5)Evaluates pending discharges and prioritizes with other departments as needed.

6)Collaborates with EVS and Patient Transport to ensure optimal patient flow.

7)Collaborates with Care Managers and Patient Care Leaders to help provide resources to prevent or resolve the cause of discharge/admission delay.

8)Follows FEMA guidelines for emergency management.

Responsible for daily staffing resource allocation following Workforce Optimization guidelines, productivity measures and unit based staffing grids.
1)Collaborates with unit based charge nurses to ensure HPPD targets and staffing grids are followed when determining staffing needs for each shift.

2)Communicates unit-based staffing concerns to Nursing Leaders.

3)Utilizes Advocate Works to ensure all staffing and scheduling changes are updated for each shift.

1)Maintains a positive and collaborative relationship with the nursing division front line leaders to ensure safe bed placement and efficient nursing resource allocation.

3)Proactively facilitates compliance with regulatory standard.

4)Promotes the culture of safety through identifying threats to patient safety and intervening to prevent patient harm. Report patient safety events and near misses in a timely manner. Seeks to identify potential safety issues and assists in the implementation of corrective action.

5)Participates in activities and continuing education to enhance professional growth

6)Maintains knowledge of current standard for throughput and participates in the throughput committee

Responsible for personal and professional growth and development. Interacts with and contributes to the professional development of peers and others practicing in a Shared Governance model of nursing practice. Ensure quality of care to patients and families.

Licensure:
Nurse, Registered (RN)

  • Education/Experience Required:
  • RN licensure, BSN preferred. - Graduate from accredited school of nursing - 3-5 years clinical experience - Active participation in hospital committees β€’ BSN preferred, AND with agreement to enroll in BSN completion program within two years of hire date and to be completed within four years of hire date. Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
  • Appropriate clinical skills - Cooperates and works well with others - Team building skills - Communication skills - Basic computer skills
  • Current RN licensure in State of Illinois - CPR Certification -ACLS, PALS for triage component of the role.
  • Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
  • Resiliency and flexibility to deal with a changing environment - Ability to work under stressful conditions and in difficult situations - May be exposed to hazardous materials and life-threatening diseases - Ability to move patients -Walking rounds required to facilitate optimal coordination of bed placement.
  • If position has direct patient care or direct patient contact the following lifting requirement supersedes any previous lifting requirement effective 06/01/2015. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.

$37.50 - $56.25
