Why does the job exist?
This position will conduct clinical quality assurance activities within the New Mexico Corrections Department (NMCD) Health Services Bureau (HSB) and oversee the clinical services provided by the NMCD medical vendor at the facility level. The incumbent will be responsible for the tactical planning of nursing and medical services audit, systematic review, analysis and projects related to healthcare quality. The position will require experience, knowledge, and expertise in quality assurance to assure that the contracted medical vendor who provides all health services to NMCD inmates is complying with contract obligations and national clinical care standards and best practices.

Minimum Qualification
Must possess a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in New Mexico, or eligibility for such licensure in accordance with New Mexico requirements, or eligibility for a temporary license issued for employment at a specific institution in New Mexico and three (3\\) years of experience as it pertains to the essential duties and responsibilities of the classification.

Employment is subject to pre\\-employment and random testing in accordance with all terms and conditions of Federal and State law, rules and regulations in relation to alcohol and/or drug testing. Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License. Pre\\-employment background check is required and conditional pending results.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an adult prison environment, which includes daily contact with inmates. Willingness to work in a correctional facility, may be required to work odd hours, overtime, holidays, and weekends.
