The RN Wound Care HBO Tech plays a critical role in delivering specialized hyperbaric oxygen therapy to patients with complex wound care needs at Medical West, UAB. This position focuses on administering and monitoring hyperbaric oxygen treatments, ensuring patient safety, and promoting optimal healing outcomes. The role requires close collaboration with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to develop and implement individualized care plans. The RN Wound Care HBO Tech is responsible for maintaining detailed patient records and adhering to strict clinical protocols and safety standards. Ultimately, this position contributes significantly to improving patient quality of life through advanced wound care therapies.
**Minimum Qualifications:**
* Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Alabama.
* Certification or training in hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBO) or willingness to obtain certification within a specified timeframe.
* Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
* Experience in wound care nursing or related clinical settings.
* Strong understanding of infection control and patient safety protocols.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
* Advanced certification in wound care (e.g., Certified Wound Care Nurse \\- CWCN).
* Experience working in a hyperbaric oxygen therapy setting.
* Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
* Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems used in wound care and hyperbaric therapy.
* Excellent communication and patient education skills.
**Responsibilities:**
* Administer hyperbaric oxygen therapy treatments to patients with chronic wounds and other qualifying conditions.
* Monitor patients continuously during therapy sessions to ensure safety and respond promptly to any adverse reactions.
* Collaborate with physicians, wound care specialists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and adjust treatment plans.
* Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of treatments, patient progress, and equipment maintenance.
* Educate patients and their families about the therapy process, expected outcomes, and post\\-treatment care instructions.
* Ensure compliance with all regulatory and safety standards related to hyperbaric oxygen therapy equipment and procedures.
* Assist in the maintenance and calibration of hyperbaric chambers and related medical devices.
