**Unit Highlights:**
* The Advanced Cardiac Surgical Intensive Care Unit is a 32\\-bed unit that provides world recognized care. It is home to some of the most critically ill patients in the southeastern United States. We provide cardiac surgical recovery care to patients requiring ECMO/ECLS, total artificial hearts, LVADs, heart and lung transplants, CABGs, valves, care for patients with adult congenital heart defects and many more mechanical cardiac support devices. ACSU is recognized as a PLATINUM level Center of Excellence in caring for ECMO patients.
* Healing Broken Hearts \\- As home to some of the most critically ill patients in the southeastern United States a multidisciplinary and collaborative approach is vital. Patient Care Model: RNs, ECMO specialist and Nurse Technician support Ratios: 1:1 Nurse to patient ratios.
* Our leadership team acts as a support system to all team members, focusing on their growth and development. Many team members are part of the Professional Excellence Program as well as nationally certified critical care nurses.

**The role you'll contribute:**
The Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) Specialist provides clinical expertise in their specialist area to optimize patient, family, nurse and team outcomes. This position assists with directing ECMO daily operations and participates in direct patient care to optimize outcomes in a fiscally responsible manner. The ECMO Specialist supports the practice of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation delivery processes through direct care, presentations, collaborative practice and knowledge of industry standards to establish clinical best practices. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

* Participates in timely documentation of comprehensive clinical assessments including assessment of clinical variables including but not limited to diagnostic testing and functional status, assessment of patients response to the extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) process.
* Attends and participates in team, unit and campus meetings including hospital interdisciplinary rounds, discharge planning and quality improvement programs with the ability to communicate with the clinical team in a professional and effective manner.
* Observes, monitors, assesses and reports patients response to ECMO as defined by program protocols. Provides clinical support for ECMO patients in collaboration with hospital nursing and perfusion team.
* Actively participates in ECMO equipment and device accessory management. Serves as a liaison between the hospital and payers, collaborating with Durable Medical Equipment (DME) providers to ensure appropriate allocation of supplies for care. Responsible for ensuring timely preventative maintenance on all ECMO equipment and replacement of equipment according to vendor standards.
* Facilitates the development of the ECMO program through teaching, coaching, and role modeling.
* Educates patients and their families on device and device\\-related equipment providing reinforcement on safe patient care.
* Participates in the ongoing education of internal and external stakeholders in the care of ECMO patients. Educates nurses and other multidisciplinary team members about patient care issues to promote positive outcomes for ECMO patients. Acts as a liaison with the patient community, referring providers and the multidisciplinary team in an effort to create a Referral ECMO\\-initiated model.
* Pro\\-actively initiates quality improvement ideas and suggestions in an effort to improve the patient experience of care (including quality and satisfaction), improve the health of the populations served and reduce the cost of clinic care. Actively participates in surveys (on\\-site and desktop) from regulatory and licensing agencies.
**The expertise and experiences you'll need to succeed:**
**Minimum qualifications** :
* Graduate of a school of nursing
* Current valid State of Florida or multistate license as a Registered Nurse
* Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
* Advanced Life Support Certifications (ACLS, PALS, NRP) per specialty/unit requirements
* EKG
**Preferred qualifications:**
* Bachelors degree in Nursing
* Professional Certification
