The Palliative Care Registered Nurse (RN) is a compassionate and skilled clinician who provides holistic, patient\\-centered care to individuals facing serious illness. In this role, the RN assumes responsibility and accountability for assessing physical, emotional, and psychosocial needs; developing and implementing individualized care plans; and evaluating outcomes to ensure comfort and quality of life.



Working collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team, the RN integrates evidence\\-based practices, therapeutic interventions, and advanced clinical judgment to support patients and their families through complex care decisions. The RN also facilitates communication across providers, advocates for patient goals, and ensures continuity of care in alignment with palliative principles.

Minimum Qualifications

* **Current RN license in the state of practice**

* **Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers**

* **Unit\\-specific certification as required (e.g., ACLS, PALS)**

* **Effective communication skills, both verbal and written**

* **RNs with less than 12 months of experience must obtain a BSN within 4 years of their start date at Intermountain.**

* + ***Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is required as of the job description's last update in July 2025\\. Employees hired or promoted prior to this date will be held to the minimum requirements that were in place at the time of their promotion or hire.***

* **Ability to walk and assist with patient ambulation and transport; includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment through crowded or equipment\\-filled spaces**
