Major Responsibilities:
Provides leadership and direction for the development and implementation of the nursing and professional research programs, the dissemination of research findings, and scholarly activities.
2)Demonstrate and facilitate the utilization of evidence based practice and research findings to promote nursing excellence. Serves as a resource consultant for the utilization of research/performance improvement in professional practice.

3)Works with research staff and other key groups to promote, support and mentor individual and collaborative research activities.

4)Support and/or participate in research studies and programs designed for the improvement of patient care or the improvement of hospital services as appropriate.

5)Provide leadership for site Nursing Research Councils. Participate in and lead system-wide nursing research activities (i.e.; Nursing Research Symposium, Nursing Research Committee)

6)Promote nursing research and EBP in publications and professional conferences and meetings. Identify opportunities for publication and conference presentations based on the site's strategic priorities at the local, regional and national level.

7)Partner with the Development Office/Foundation to pursue fundraising opportunities for research and professional development. Work with site leaders to develop, implement and monitor nursing research and EBP grants. Develops internal funding sources to seed research projects

1)Assists investigators, residents, students, scientists, healthcare providers, fellows, and other research staff in the planning of studies, conducting projects, and disseminating findings.

Working collaboratively with the Nursing Director and VP/CNO, direct, implement and monitor strategic initiatives, standardized processes/procedures, and report metrics; provide direction and support for electronic data resources.
6)Develop and implement a reporting system for research to facilitate preparation and dissemination of routine reports on initiatives, activities, and program development

7)Creates and produces metrics and reports used to manage the research infrastructure for Department of Nursing. Uses statistical techniques to identify drivers of Key Performance Indicators within Key Result Areas.

8)Provides consultation in research methods and data analysis to guide decision making in the research program. Utilize appropriate resources to organize and analyze data and interpret and disseminate findings.

1)Track and report all site research activities including active studies, peer-reviewed publications and presentations by physicians, nurses, associates, residents and fellows for internal and external dissemination purposes

2)Build and maintain a database of studies and funding; may include the implementation and maintenance of a clinical research management system to ensure accurate capture of study-specific information including study visits, study budget, invoicing and other data critical to the success of site research

3)Provide leadership, direction and support for electronic data resources to facilitate research operations. Manage data warehouse capabilities by integrating new data sources as needed and made available

4)Support investigator-initiated research studies through data warehouse; Facilitate use of data warehouse for feasibility for sponsored studies

5)Facilitate communication and collaboration with Dir Nursing, VP/CNO and senior clinical leadership with issues such as clinical research metrics and goals

Collaborates with nursing leadership to develop and implement mechanisms to foster the professional development of all nursing associates
1)Initiates programs designated for the advancement of professional practice.

2)Develops and mentors nurses in regards to professional standards. Coaches nurses to identify patient care problems and processes that can be addressed through nursing inquiry

3)Collaborates with the APRNs, Clinical Practice Specialists, and Nursing leadership in the development and implementation of standards of practice and nursing policies and procedures.

4)Encourages APRN/CPS involvement in ongoing programs to monitor, evaluate and improve the quality and appropriateness of patient care and nursing practice.

5)Identify opportunities to improve performance and outcomes through current nursing research and PI data.

6)Assess and incorporate research findings into current standards of practice, educational offerings and clinical practice, and to improve the staff’s knowledge base and professional development processes.

Licensure:
Nurse, Registered (RN)

  • Education/Experience Required:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field • Master’s Degree in Nursing (or related field if Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing) •Typically requires 5-7 years of relevant experience • Demonstrated track record in managing research projects • 1-3 years experience working with IRB
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
This position requires travel between the Advocate sites and university affiliates.

Pay Range
$46.55 - $69.85
