Job Summary:


The Facility Pathway to Excellence/Magnet Program Manager works in partnership with the Professional Practice Leader and the Chief Nurse Officer ("CNO") to lead, coordinate, and provide support and/or oversight of aspects of the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Magnet and Pathway to Excellence programs designation journeys. The MPM focused work is to ensure the development, dissemination, and enculturation of the Magnet Model structures and processes as well as the Pathway to Excellence standards throughout the organization, creating value for the organization and supporting successful designations.

This program manager serves as a content expert/resource throughout the system supporting facility specific needs to advance and improve the practice environment supporting nursing excellence. This position supports the Wellstar Professional Nursing Practice Model and principles for nursing excellence. Collaborates with key stakeholders in attaining Wellstar's mission, vision, values, philosophy and strategic targets and goals. This individual supports the quality and safety initiatives within the nursing division.

This position is an individual contributor role and reports to the CNO/AVP of Nursing and is a key role in delivering on our commitment to deliver world\\-class healthcare. As a member of the patient services team, it is expected the individual upholds the voice of the patient, policies and procedures while supporting service excellence goals.



Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:


Organizational Leadership Practice

* Co\\-leads the development of strategic goals to achieve and maintain Magnet and Pathway to Excellence designation(s). Provides leadership support for all aspects of the facilitys Journey to Excellence designation(s)
* Collaborates with key stakeholders to assure the Magnet and Pathway to Excellence Sources of Evidence (SOEs) are met and related structures and processes are developed, implemented, evaluated, and enculturated.
* Serves as the point of contact for Magnet\\- and/or Pathway to Excellence\\-related issues and actions within the organization.
* Evaluates empirical data, leverages teams, and designs and implements programs targeted to achieve and maintain Magnet and/or Pathway to Excellence designations.


Shared Leadership

* Supports and facilitates a nursing shared leadership model in which nurses make decisions about evidence\\-based clinical practice standards, quality improvement, staff and professional development and research. Provides leadership and support for the councils and participates directly, as appropriate, to assure viability and efficacy.
* Responsible for design and implementation of strategies, including resources and skill development, for staff to be proficient in shared decision\\-making.
* Serves as a coach and role model for the chairs of the various nursing councils and works to assure sound principles of a shared decision\\-making model, emphasizing accountability to make decisions which impact practice and outcomes.
* Provides periodic assessment of the shared leadership model, to assure ongoing maturation. Analyzes and disseminates results to appropriate council leaders and organizational nursing leaders. Facilitates/supports action planning for ongoing council development.


Budget

* Provides recommendations into the annual operating budget for all Magnet\\-related items at the facility level.
* Throughout the year, reassesses needs, reviews and monitors planned and unplanned expenditures to support designation journeys. Expenses may include the following (not exhaustive list): operational supplies, application and document submissions, site visits by consultants and/or appraisers, celebrations, communications, education, attendance at the Magnet and Pathway to Excellence annual conferences and other offerings, and program activities such as professional nursing certification, shared leadership, strategic planning events.
* Initiate recommendations to ensure department is operating within budget.


Communication and Education

* Communication Strategy: Co\\-creates, implements, and evaluates comprehensive Magnet and Pathway to Excellence communication strategies. Partners with key stakeholders to assure consistent and accurate messaging.
* Articulates the value of Magnet and Pathway to Excellence for the facility to key stakeholders (not exhaustive list): nurses in all roles, organization leaders, physicians and other healthcare team colleagues, and other stakeholders.
* Communicates to appropriate audiences any Magnet and/or Pathway to Excellence program changes and updates. Facilitates necessary changes to maintain alignment with designation journeys at facility level.

Performs other duties as assigned

Complies with all WellStar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.
Required Minimum Education:


Master's Degree

Bachelor's Degree in nursing (BSN) from accredited nursing school with a Masters Degree in related field


Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s):


All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.

RN \\- Reg Nurse (Single State) or RN\\-COMPACT \\- RN \\- Multi\\-state Compact



Additional License(s) and Certification(s):


National certification on nursing administration or clinical specialty Upon Hire Preferred


Required Minimum Experience:


Minimum 1 year of progressive experience in nursing operational leadership in a manager level role Required and

Experience leading nurse and multidisciplinary teams in clinical and non\\-clinical projects Required and

Minimum 1 year experience working at a Magnet/Pathway to Excellence designated or Magnet/Pathway to Excellence journey hospital or healthcare system Required and

Lean/Six sigma experience Preferred and

Ability to influence positive and sustainable change in an urgent and fast\\-paced environment Required


Required Minimum Skills:


Experience in managing projects.

Exceptional communication skills (written, verbal, and nonverbal) and team building skills within a diverse group of departments.

Demonstrates initiative, a high degree of emotional intelligence, ability to inspire confidence, respect and cooperation of others, and resiliency.
