**Essential Functions**
-----------------------

* Serves as full\\-line supervisor.
* In accordance with established standards and administrative policies as nursing supervisor in an assigned unit has 24 hour accountability with authority for total supervision of staff in the delivery of care by evaluation, assessments, procedure and outcome and responsibility for continuing care of residents by working with other facility staff in the areas of restorative nursing, dietary, social work, spirituality, physical therapy, activity/leisure and other disciplines pertinent to resident needs
* Provides direction and control to all personnel relative to improvement of unit management and patient care.
* Acts as liaison between resident, families, staff and the Interdisciplinary Team in order to provide realistic holistic care to the resident
* Conducts in\\-service training classes and unit meetings
* Performs other duties as required or assigned that are within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
**Minimum Qualifications**
--------------------------

* Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to the completion of four (4\\) years of college, preferably with courses in nursing.
* Requires prior experience equivalent to three (3\\) years of progressively responsible professional nursing experience in a public or business organization
* Requires licensure as Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois
**Preferred Qualifications**
----------------------------

* Extensive knowledge of professional nursing theory and practice and of recent developments in the field of nursing.
* Extensive knowledge of public and business administration principles and practices; agency programs and service objectives, activities, and operational systems; staff utilization and employee motivation; labor and employment development; agency and procedures.
* Three (3\\) years experience developing and managing a supportive agency program; analyzing administrative problems and adopting an effective course of action; developing, installing, and evaluating new and revised methods, procedures, and performance standards.
* Three (3\\) years experience exercising judgement and discretion in developing, implementing, and interpreting departmental policies and procedures; estimating and budgeting for future needs and cost of personnel, space, equipment, supplies and services; developing and maintain cooperative working relationships.

* Requires ability utilize office equipment, including personal computers.
* Requires ability acquire and maintain Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate.
* Requires ability to attend seminars, conferences, and trainings to stay current on methods, tools, ideologies, or other industry related topics relevant to the job duties.
* Requires ability to travel in the performance of job duties, with overnight stays as appropriate.
* This position is considered sedentary work as defined by the U.S. Department of Labor (20 CFR 404\\.1567(a). Sedentary work involves lifting no more than 50 pounds at a time and requires occasional lifting, carrying, walking, and standing unassisted.
* On\\-call and overtime are a condition of employment, and you may be required to work overtime including scheduled, unscheduled, or last\\-minute overtime, and may be required to work alternating weekends. This requires the ability to work evenings and weekends.
