**Job Summary:**


Manage the daily operations of the therapeutic apheresis unit through staff supervision, maintaining standards and supporting procedures to ensure efficiency, effectiveness and safe, appropriate care of patients and donors.

**Key Responsibilities:**

* Manage the daily operations of the therapeutic apheresis unit, which may include staff assignments, supply inventory, coordinating logistics of off\\-site procedures, overseeing and managing research activities/collections, and scheduling and performing therapeutic apheresis procedures.
* Supervise staff, including hiring, training, coaching, mentoring, evaluating and disciplining, to ensure a well\\-qualified team, reduce turnover, enhance operational success and compliance, and ensure safe and appropriate care of patient or donor.
* Develop and monitor implementation of local operating procedures, quality control procedures, and staff training protocols with assigned area to assure compliance with regulatory requirements (such as Code of Federal Regulations).
* May perform therapeutic apheresis procedures or assist with the collection of Human Cells, Tissues, and Cellular and Tissue\\-Based Products (HCT/P), or Perioperative Autologous Cell Salvage (PACS).
* Contribute to the development and implementation of annual operating plans by reviewing/assessing the assigned area for efficiency and effectiveness of current methods and overseeing supply inventory.
* Discuss procedures and medical issues with patients, families, and physicians.

**Qualifications:**

* Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Management, or related field required. Current RN, MT, or LPN licensure, depending on the requirements of state legislation. Current CPR certification required.
* Minimum 3 years of medical/surgical or critical care nursing experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience required.
* 1 year of lead or supervisory experience.
* Excellent organizational skills, the ability to handle multiple priorities effectively, analyze problems and recommend appropriate solutions, and the ability to assimilate information quickly.
* Excellent written and oral communication skills are necessary to deal with all levels of staff, hospital personnel, physicians, patients, families, volunteers, and donors. Previous apheresis or dialysis experience is highly desirable.
* A current, valid driver’s license and good driving record is required. Ability to work on a team.
* Some travel may be required.

***Physical Requirements***


The duties are representative of the essential functions of the position. Operational flexibility is required to meet sudden and unpredictable needs. Required to wear protective clothing such as lab coats, gloves, face shields, etc. when there is exposure to blood and blood products and/or when the work location requires. Ability to use a wide variety of lab or medical equipment. Ability to use a personal computer and applicable software for sustained periods.
